i got the one for blue eyes, and its okay... but i dont like blue eyeshadow cause A: i feel like im back in the 80's and B: its really easy to over do it if you dont know what your doing. and then you end up looking like a hooker!

Yes. Purple looks AMAZING with green eyes. It really makes them pop. Just dont go to crazy with it =)

I have green eyes and I use the plum eye liner and love it. I haven't tried it with the suggested powders but started using the plum about a year ago and now I have several other purple and grape shades that I use. I get comments every day about how the purple really brings my eyes out.

No way! Almay is for anyone, but is especially for those with sensitive skin...and people have sensitive skin at all ages! It's a very gentle line and likely won't break you out or cause your eyes any irritation. Try it if you see a pretty color you want to try!





I've never used anything from that line except skincare, so I can't comment on the makeup. But for inexpensive eyeshadows, I like Sally Girl. If you want a ton of color payoff, try the H.I.P. line from L'Oreal, just not the sticks of eyeshadow...those aren't good. But the pigments, shadows and glosses are awesome!





If you're under 16, you probably don't need any makeup! So just use sheer shades, lots of gloss, and blotting sheets for any oiliness.





And as for the 12 year old, MAC (gets talked about a lot, but isn't the best at all) and Chanel ($, super nice glosses) are not the end-all, be-all of cosmetics. They are a ton of brands that are better. =)

I hate the stuff. I have Irish skin (my grandpa was right off the boat lol) so I have skin that turns RED when I were some makeup. And that is one of them. It wont help your freckles, it may actually make them worse. Don't bother with it. Go with a good loose powder.
OMG... I hated that makeup it's oily and it wipes off and made me break out and to top it all off it didn't cover a thing. I hated it don't waste your money on it. I sugest benefit makeup it is a lot better.
it wipes off really easily and it feels greasy in my opinion. its a little bit too sheer for covering up freckles. i heard that after a few hours of wearing it , it turns orangish!

The shades offered are based on natural skin tones and should work well for that, but the coverage is more sheer. Also, as the depth of your tan changes, you will have to switch up depths of powder. If you check out PrettyByCritty's review on YouTube you can see how it applies, and basically the color might be a little off, meaning it may not match perfectly. Beyond that, it can be streaky so you have to blend it in fast.. Because of that I would recommend using a primer so that you get more of an effortless application.

I would advise you not to use liquid eyeliner at all. Is that the kind you use? I got an eye infection from it. So only use pencil or stick.... unless you want an eye infection..... Try a hypoallergenic eyeliner. And replace your make up twice a year, for hygene.

yes they are pretty good! you could also get coverup to put on too. Get a primer for your foundation and put powder on after. all of these things give you more coverage.

smart shade doesn't last long, and it doesn't work the way it shows in the commerials. the one i bought comes out in an orangy tan color, and i got the lightest one they offer, becaue i'm really pale. i looked orange and fake and everytime i touched my face hours after i applied it, it would come off.

I have tryed all of them. I tryed the new mineral foundation from Lorel, the mineral foundation in a tube from Neutragreana, and the ';smart make up'; from Almay (its a liquid not mineral) and to be honest they all sucked. I have bad acne though so our skin might be different.

The best foundation i have ever bought (and use today) is Cover Girl Clean. It comes in a green compact and is about $4. Its amazingHas anyone tried Loreal, Neutrogena, or Almay mineral foundation? If so was it good or bad?
A must try mineral foundation would have to be Maybelline's new line of Maybelline Mineral Power. It's stunning. It lasts until you wash it off, and it goes on without looking cakey. It leaves your skin looking flawless, much like the pricier products such as Bare Minerals.
Yes, I do and has been using it for three years. My daughter Alex who was 18 introduced me to the make-up and it has helped a lot to cover my whole face with natural look. My friends tell me there's a change in me. I am 53 --when others think I am only 38 or 40.





Also, there is make up I use before the mineral foundation. I use a concealer on a couple of dark spots, a Maybelline matte mousse, then I just cover it w/ the mineral makeup. I am sure we have different skin-I have normal to oily skin --if you have any questions, or pimples flare up --it can be avoided. Make sure you wash your face clean with a creme cleanser and always wash with cool water and a soft washcloth before you go to bed. It's a must. Do not use an alcohol toner every after wash (very harsh to the skin)--although alcohol maybe used once in a while to kill the germ when you open up a flred pimple. Like I told my daughters, it doesn't matter what makeup you use --it's how you use it on your clean face.
Neutrogena and Loreal has been known to kill harmfull bacteria on the face but about 1 out of 344 people who have used them got much worse skin rashes and burns so be very carefull when trying these products

Looooooved this stuff. This was my go-to liquid foundation. It does last all day, and it will definitely help even out the discolorations/redness in your skin.


I don't know if it'll necessarily help with your pimples, but it will certainly keep you from breaking out even more. Just make sure you get a good face wash and use it in the morning and in the evening.

The sunless tanners never make my mom as dark as she would like- its a hint of color but if used on the face (though its not meant for that-lol) it beats makeup. The mascaras are not great but they are good enough they do what they say though not drastic (my second choice of mascara brand- I've tried two of the Almay mascaras.) The makeup eye remover since I have sensitive skin I would not live without- but the non oily one because the moisturizing one will give me pimples and my face is not oily to begin with. The deodorant since I have sensitive skin is also great. Thats all I have tried in the brand so its as far as I can comment on. Almay I would say is a pretty good brand and I have tried many many brands, yet this is the only one that I purchase more than one item from.

Where can i buy almay products?

i live in ireland and cant find them anywhere. does anyone know an almay shop or what department store i can get it in???

It's not an expensive designer brand so you will not find it in any department stores. It is a drug store brand. I'm not sure what stores you have there, but you can get it at almost any drug store that sells make up.





Edit: If it's not at the chemist and they tell you do go to department stores, Almay probably isn't available in your area.

In the US you can get them at most all drug stores [CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc] and at major retailers like Wal-Mart, K-mart, and Target. They're also available at grocery stores. Almay is a brand similar to Covergirl...So, I'm not sure about Ireland, but checkout places there that are similar to the ones I've mentioned.

I find that soap and water work really well at cleaning the body and pores. Why sweat it?
well, theres always old spice... thats what i use, and it works, even it just as deoderant, and not that other stuff that non-sweat stuff...
I use the Secret Platinum Baby Soft.
i dont use hypoallergenic, but I do have sensitive skin and the whole Secret line works well, but not the gels, they irritate my skin, I'm using the clinical strength right now, it works and it smells great.
If you have odor/wetness problems try lady mitchum..It's a little expensive but, really worth it..

Yes, I tried it a couple of weeks ago, and used it every day since, and I can tell you that it's great! Not only does it really match your skin tone, but it masks pimples, dark circles and other stuff too.

Ya, I have it and when I bought it, it was awesome. But I've had it for umm probably a couple weeks and it turns like this weird browny, bronzey colour when i put it on. I hope this helps!

Ive tried it. Its really no different from other skin matching brands. I use Almay skin clearing foundation. I never really had any problems with breakouts, maybe about 2 or 3 a month, but since i started using that i have none. and thats great!

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:


Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water %26amp; stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath %26amp; let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K %26amp; Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

Avon, Maybelline, Cover Girl and Revlon all contain animal by prodcts. Almay, and Physician's Formula does not currently perform animal testing, but Avon, Revlon, Cover Girl and Maybelline do. Many of these companies use animal fats as binders in their products. It makes you skin softer and smoother and makes the product last longer after you put it on. But this is at the expense of animals. I would stick with Almay, Physician's Formula that are free of animal products, or something like NYX or E.L.F. products that are cruelty free.Do any of these companies contain animal ingredients? Being an ex-make-up artist, pro. I cannot recommend any one product, but any brand, in a light green is a very good color if you have black eyes. Just don't put in on thick, just light enough to bring out your eyes, and BLEND outward. then use a black eyeliner, I prefer a liquid, AFTER you put on your mascara. (putting on mascara always messes up, that's why you do it first) lay the liner brush on it's side starting from the middle, pull outward, then with what's left on the brush, place it in the corner and pull to meet the middle. It's best if you get a good tapered sable-like brush.

almay doesnt have very good pigment in their shadows....wont show up as dark....well...personally i think mac is the best for shadow....a cheap alternative would be loreal hip eyeshadows...basically the same...and cheaper!

it's nice coz it has sunscreen, but that's about where it ends. i'm very pale, and the light shade was way too dark and orange for me. it was neat to put it on coz it has these little blue beads mixed w/ white liquid and once you blend it the beads turn to ';flesh'; color. there's no way that you can match even half of women with just three colors... there's no way it can actually match your skin shade.





if you're really concerned with matching, i say visit a mac counter, estee lauder, clinique, etc and they'd be able to help you find a suitable match. since i got matched at mac i don't think i'll ever buy anything else.Is the Almay Smart Shade makeup good?
YES! Its a great makeup option! I am a new makeup artist and I have tried SO many different types of shadows and almay is the best so far! EVEN compared to more expensive makeup. Just make sure to apply it how it says on the package and you will have a great new makeup option! Best of luck!

I don't know if this mineral makeup is any good...but I DO know that all of these drugstore-brand mineral makeups are knock offs of Bare Escentuals, a higher-end mineral makeup that has been around for about a decade. It's about $30 for a year's worth of foundation that doesn't make your skin oily, won't rub off, and gives really great coverage without looking like a mask.

Don't buy this stuff, it's a total scam. I tried it on myself, my fiance, and piece of tissue paper and it turned the same color each time. It apparently just has little beads of dye in it that break when you rub it in.

The color matches your skin really well, at least for me. It's kind of sheer coverage, so if you're looking to cover something up really well you're going to want to choose something else.

I've heard it has horrible coverage and if you're really fair, it makes you look dark or orange. If you're buying drugstore foundation, I reccomend Revlon custom Creations.
i tried my friends, who had the one for dark skin, and i have realtively fair skin. it worked really well for me, so im sure if i tried the one for lighter skin shades it would work even better. i would reccomend it, just make sure to blend well or else you can see the streaks on it

What do you think of Almay Line Smoothing Concealer?

I am biased here, but personally I think it's a great product. I used to work on the Almay brand and I helped launch this product. It's great, esp for under eyes, as it is both moisturizing and has SPF protection. It blends in easily as well.





You need to be very careful w/ concealers that you use under your eyes because some are drying and will actually make your fine lines look worse. This is one of the only products I'll use there. (or I'll use Neutrogena's Healthy Defense which is a tinted moisturizer).

I have it. Yea it does all my friends says it makes my skin look flawless. Each person has different skin mine has no zits that could be why, i have broke out before and it did cover it up pretty well. My skin feels better with out it but it makes my skin look great so i would buy it.Almay smart shade concealer does it work?
I use it the trick to it is to get the shade that is right and for me it was hit or miss till i got it. you have to apply it with your fingers so that it matches the tone and i actually found it to be kinda light but as soon as you sweat even a little it starts to lift and get that crusty look.
It works and compared to liquid foundation it's lightweight but since I wear mineral makeup it feels heavy if I use too much. without a primer it can look cakey too.
I like it. It's not as good as my more expensive concealers, but it does the job just fine.


It's soo lightweight, i would suggest buying it.

I am not familiar with Almay products but Mary Kay has some great foundations that are very light - try the medium coverage or creme to powder foundations. the neutrogena skin clearing makeup is great. there are sticks, liquid foundation, and powder so u'll probably find one u like.

Not really ... it is just basically a light foundation (not very pigmented) so it will blend with more people's skin type. It didn't even cover minor flaws on my face, let alone a pimple or something. I tried the blush and I am pasty, pasty white and I couldn't even see it. So if it won't show up on me, it won't show up on anyone.





Have your tried L'Oreal True Match or the L'Oreal HiP foundations, they are very good at matching skin tones for drug store brands. They are based on 3 different undertones so you can get an exact match.Does the Almay Smart Shade FOundation Work?
No probaly not. It MIGHT work for you not sure. I'm half White half Latina/Native American and I'm darker than you and that stuff don't work for me. Allergic to almay mascara! what ingredient is it?

so ive always used the green and pink mascara but (stupidly) i decided to try something new.


i got the almay thickening mascara for blue eyes and after about an hour of wearing it, my eye lids swelled and started to itch and burn like crazy. of course, i was out and about with no where to take this toxic stuff off, but by the time i got home, my eyes were soooo swollen.


obviously, im allergic to something in it. anyone had this problem? or know what ingredient it is that irritates eyes??

I'm pale and use the smart shade stuff, but honestly, it's more like a moisturizer than a foundation. I don't think it covers much, and come to think of it, I'm not sure why I use it everyday because it doesn't do a whole heck of a lot. eh, probably not. african american shades tend to need to apply more color than light skinned people to get the same results. not many ';all in one'; color packs can offer that.

The brand altogether, is pretty nice (I like how the the have all this stuff in their makeup that is supposed to be good for you and I ';think'; they don't test on animals.)





It didn't break me out (but then nothing really ever breaks me out.)





It also didn't last all day for me (nothing ever does.)





All in all, its a okay foundation and concealer. It didn't dry my skin out or make it flaky (nor did the power version). BUT I personally didn't like the liquid foundation that much because its a bottle and the way the concealer is because bacteria can easily grow in it.

I wore the foundation for a while.


And to be honest, it was too heavy foy my oil-prone skin. Which meant that it could get/look cakey easily. It didn't really last any different than other foundations I have worn before.





It never made my skin worse, but didn't do absolutely anything to make it better. I found it to be too thick, and the coverage was maybe.. medium?


But far too thick. And also, the shades didn't have enough yellow in them and they were too beige-ish. And I used the lightest shade (or 2nd lightest) but it was a bit too dark/pink on my skin. I am not a big fan of their foundations. I had tried the purple lid version, and it wasn't that great.

It definitely was NOT smart, among other things! It looked too orange for my skin, and I got the light shade. I would only recommend you buying it if you have a dark skin tone. Try another foundation, please, don't buy it! It will ruin your life!!... okay, I'm overexaggerating, but it IS very awful.

depends on your skin type , it works on every skin type , but , if you have oily skin then you may need to re-apply every few hours , if you have dry skin then it may work with some mousterizer mixed with it

I think this is the sister company to Revlon? I've heard they're good products, so long as you choose to ignore the long list of chemicals in them.





They are only ';better for sensitive skin'; if you compare them to the big brands, which are full of toxic chemicals. If you go looking for truly natural/organic cosmetics you'll realise Almay is no better for you. (Of course the hard part is that it's difficult to find good foundation, lipstick, etc in the natural ranges, and often the choices are limited, but things are improving.)

Almay is pretty light, I have it in medium and it is too light for me. I am a normal white girl with a little tan lol. They almay one is also pretty dry. It goes on like lotion but in a minute or two it dries like a powder.

I loove Almay's Intense I-Color Play Up collection-- they make coordinated eyeliners (both pencil and liquid), shadows and mascaras that are specifically designed for your eye color (blue, green, brown %26amp; hazel). The eyeliners that I've tried from that collection are great and look super natural and pretty, as opposed to plain black , which can look a little harsh. Good luck!
I always buy bare essentials everything, it's so expensive, but it's worth it and it lasts forever.. Except for eyeliner! Cheap eyeliner pencils that you have to sharpen yourself like Wet and Wild from the drugstore, are the best.. they never smudge like the softer ones that you twist!
To get the nicest black eyeliner..buy loreal h-i-p cream eyeliner than buy any regular cheap eyeliner and dip the pencil liner into the cream one and it will apply flawlessly and perfectly..it is a great way to have dark eyeliner all day long without smudging =]
Almay eyeliner is amazing. It goes on really smooth and delicate, and it comes in pretty colors. It doesnt smudge very easily and stays on all day. It is $7 I think. They have great collections for different eye colours.
I personally dont use many drugstore brands of makeup, but when i purchased maybelline define a line i was very impressed. It goes on the waterline like butter, and it doesnt smudge off for quite a while! its about 3.50! hope this helps.
Revlon Colorstay eyeliner!!! It stays on all day and is waterproof. You can get the pencil or liquid form, they are both amazing.

I bought Revlon Beyond Natural. It works wonderfully! I was going to try Almay Smart Shade but I just stuck with Revlon. Many people say that is doesnt give THAT much coverage, and that that's where Revlon's Beyond Natural concealer comes in. I have good skin so i didnt need to worry TOO much about coverage but it gave me a BEAUTIFUL finish.

No! I tried the one for hazel eyes and all it did was make me look like a clown. I put it on very lightly too, and it just didn't look right. What works better for me to get the green to stand out in my eyes is to use a charcoal grey eyeliner then blend a little shadow in grey and brown tones. I like Boots Cappuccino, you can get it at Target for $7. For a night time look I use Stila Smudgepot in Emerald (it's a dark green/black and very dramatic).





Another color that makes the green pop is purple, but it can be hard to pull off.

I've heard Almay cosmetics are good. I know some friends who love the Smart Shade foundation, but if you are looking for heavy coverage, the Smart Shade foundation won't do any good. It's more like a tinted moisturiser with sheer coverage.





I've tried the tester before, and it comes out white and you have to rub it in to activate the beads which turn into a foundation colour that matches your skin tone. It's pretty cool, but as I have already said, it doesn't give you medium or heavy coverage.

I love almay. Its a teeny bit expensive for drugstore brand, but works well for a brugstore brand.


The skin matching foundation does what it says- it matches skin tone. it works quite well and almay is organic and so it doesnt clog pores too bad. The other one, it doesnt work any different expect its the color it says it is.


Get the skin matching one, it works amazing, and like i said amay is good 4 skin so no worries! Just make sure to take it off before bed and exfoliate your face once in a while
